Urban Cottages

I am away today on a DSID (Dayton Society of Interior Designers) field trip. We are visiting the Indianapolis showhouse and a Cambria manufacturing/fabrication center. This crisp, all-white loft apartment is very modern and stylish. The exposed wood beans and rustic wooden dining table add a bit of cottage atmosphere that is warm and inviting.  

The soft blue wall color and rich wood features throughout this Brooklyn apartment feel like a contemporary version of a rustic vacation cottage. The pile of firewood makes the perfect accent.

This adorable renovated home is actually a former pigeon cottage. The vintage finds and a simple white wall color help make the space feel even roomier, which is always an issue when living in a city.
  

The beautiful mix of blue and white transforms this spacious city loft into a roomy, romantic French cottage. Industrial lighting, like the single pendant light, and the crystal chandelier are a fun combination.

The charming shabby chic style of this little girl's room is a wonderful contrast to the urban brick walls. A beautiful shade of dark gray and white help soften the effect of the gritty brick.

I love this all-white kitchen with its pastel table and chairs.
